Nokia Lumia 920 hands-on

Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Lumia 920, has got bright eyes - comes with an 8-megapixel PureView camera. Check out my impressions of the phone below:

I go hands-on with Nokia Lumia 920 at Abenson Shangri-la Plaza (Ground Floor).

It's bigger but thinner than its predecessor, the Lumia 900. Its polycarbonate body holds the 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait processor, Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB of RAM and all the brilliant enhancements brought by WP8, making UI navigation smooth and fast. This beauty has topnotch display quality thanks to its 4.5-inch (768 x 1280, 332 ppi) PureMotion HD+ IPS display. Also supports wireless charging. The Lumia 920 is heavier (185g) than the Galaxy Note II (183g), if that’s even a problem at all.

While the 8MP PureView is a downgrade of Nokia 808's camera, it still captures the best photos I've seen from smartphones. Well, what the heck, it's PureView technology we're talking about.

Nokia Lumia 920 PureView specs:

4.5-inch 720p display PureMotionHD+ @ 1280×768 pixels

Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core, Krait processor

Adreno 225 GPU

1GB RAM

32GB internal storage

8MP rear camera, LED flash

1080p video recording

2,000mAh Li-Ion battery

LTE

NFC

Windows Phone 8

The Lumia 920 will be available in white, black, grey, red and a bold yellow color. The smartphone isn't available until April and no details on local pricing as of yet.

Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 camera testing.

Both take awesome shots, but the Lumia 920's PureView camera undoubtedly does it better. Takes photos much faster than the Lumia 820 and focusing is more accurate.

Also consider its closest match: Nokia Lumia 820

The Lumia 820 has the same processor, GPU and RAM as the Lumia 920 so UI navigation is as smooth and snappy. It is lighter and a bit thinner than the Lumia 920.

Nokia Lumia 820 specs:
4.3″ AMOLED display with ClearBlack @ 480×800 pixels
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core, Krait processor
Adreno 225 GPU
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
microSD support
8MP rear camera, LED flash
1080p video recording
1650mAh Li-Ion battery
LTE
NFC
Windows Phone 8

PLDT myDSL’s best commercial for me is…

Derek’s Anna Banana Song:

Derek got busted:

Aria is the new Anna Banana!:

Booster, the Lost Dog:

Personally I think PLDT myDSL’s best commercial in the Anna Banana series is Booster, the Lost Dog. It shows how the Lorenzos come together with a reliable family-sized connection and sharing at home.

The ad is about a missing dog named “Booster” owned by the Lorenzo family. Daddy David even created a Facebook page for the beloved family pet and easily became the talk of the town. It was later announced that the dog was reunited with the Lorenzos. Happy ending.

This new myDSL commercial tells the full story. Daddy David sings, along with the whole family and the new Anna (Aria Carino), his apology to mommy Berns for leaving the gate open and losing Booster. They all sang the love song online, which proves myDSL enables everyone to enjoy unlimited sharing at home. Great value too, with one internet connection for the whole family.

The lyrics tells the tale in a charming and catchy way:

DEREK: 'Coz you're mad at dad. But he feels bad,

ANNA (ARIA): He forgot to lock the gate and the dog went running,

DEE DEE: He got lost and you got cross,

DAVID: Don’t be mad forgive me, baby.

Your home deserves unlimited sharing from the strong, reliable, family sized connection of myDSL. The strongest connections are at home, so visit www.pldthome.com to get your family connected today!

Good taste, great pairings with San Miguel Lifestyle Brews

There's more to San Miguel Lifestyle Brews pairings than posh diners and pricey cuisine! It can be as ordinary as stocking up the beer fridge, then poppin' one open and chuggin' it down after a long day, or serving it to a visiting guest; pairing it with whatever's available. Let me break this culture of class in brewski, and present San Miguel Premium All-Malt Beer, San Miguel Super Dry and Cerveza Negra on a different and inexpensive light. LOL.

Here, I've compiled in a slideshow my suggested San Miguel Beer lifestyle brews pairings with affordable easy-to-find fave fare.

Any dish tastes better when you have a nice, cold beer to wash it down with, I must say!

Beer is all about camaraderie and good company, but could also mean peace of mind and alone time. What better way to enjoy these simple things in life than with a refreshing San Miguel Lifestyle Brew - a high-quality choice of beer that just turns an ordinary drinking experience into something special!

Drink responsibly!
